In case you’re unaware, any gmail address has an unlimited number of additional address, simply by appending a “+” sign to the end of the username portion:
joe {at} gmail(.)com <– Primary Address
joe+junk {at} gmail(.)com <– Routed to joe {at} gmail(.)com
joe+anythingelseiwant {at} gmail(.)com <– Routed to joe {at} gmail(.)com
Why is this useful? Many reasons:
- On the fly, without an admin screen, you can create a new email address (alias) for yourself.
- You can setup filters in GMail to quickly file/delete/whatever the emails that come in to these addresses.
- I already get enough spam at my primary address - each time I sign up for something new, I just know it’s more spam coming.
Anyway, I hope this is helpful to someone.
